Clubs alter BCB proposed grading list of Dhaka Premier League

The Dhaka Premier League clubs have altered the players grading list provided by the Bangladesh Cricket Board and they will submit the new list to the Board today. In a joint effort, the respective officials of each club sat together on Wednesday and reshuffled the list.  Earlier, BCB set a list of 184 players across four grades, but the clubs increased another grade while they also lessened the number of players in the chart.   The clubs brought 108 cricketers under the grading list while they set 64 players under a ‘free list’. These 64 players, mostly lower ranked cricketers, will directly negotiate with clubs for the league. Meanwhile, 12 other cricketers were listed as unavailable.  According to their proposed list, A+ category cricketers will get Tk2m each and it only features four players - Mushfiqur Rahim, Sakib al Hasan, Nasir Hossain and Tamim Iqbal. 20 cricketers, almost all the current national team members and few other around the team, were named under grade A who are proposed to get Tk1.5m. B+ category consists 24 cricketers with a salary of Tk1m each while 12 players in grade B are proposed to receive Tk800,000. 48 cricketers were equally divided across two grades C and D who will receive Tk500,000 and Tk250,000 respectively. One of the club officials who was present in that meeting and prefered to be anonymous said, “We have made some corrections on the grading list on Wednesday and we think those are some minor changes.” “We are going to submit this new copy to the BCB tomorrow (today) and the rest will be on the hands of the Board,” he said. Though BCB is yet to receive this correction copy, it is highly likely that the Board will accept the new list from the clubs. On the other hand, the clubs also plan to ask for Tk10m each as they are facing some financial problems and with the league matches stretching outside Dhaka, the anonymous official revealed that they are hopeful that BCB will consider their demand.
