Bangladesh opening batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy has been ruled out from the ongoing Test match Test due to injury.
The right hand batsman was injured while fielding practice on Tuesday and three stitches were given to his finger later.
Bangladesh team physio Bayezid Ul Islam Khan confirmed this though a video message and also informed that the opener will have to undergo observation for at least seven to ten days which means he is uncertain for the second Test too.
Joy batted brilliantly in first innings and scored 78 off 228 deliveries.
Bangladesh are on top in the ongoing Test as New Zealand have finished the day as 147 for 7 and with just 17 runs lead.
The second Test will start from January 9 at Christchurch.
