Bangladesh cricket team made a big stride in the T20 ranking, moving to No 7 from No 10 in the table.
The side’s dominating victory against New Zealand in the first of the five-match T20 series at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Wednesday boosted Bangladesh in the ranking table.
Bangladesh in the game secured a seven-wicket victory with five overs to spare after restricting New Zealand to their joint lowest T20 total – 60 runs.
Bangladesh with the win added four points to the tally, now at 238, to move up the table, and are now above the West Indies, ranked 10th with 234 points, Sri Lanka, ranked ninth with 235 points, and Afghanistan, ranked eighth with 236 points.
Bangladesh now stand the possibility of putting Australia and South Africa behind in the table.
Australia are ranked sixth with 240 rating points and South Africa are at No 5 with 246.
Winning the series 5-0 will see Bangladesh reach 248 rating points, and move to No 5 spot in the T20 rating.
