Legends of Rupganj batsman Sabbir Rahman has been fined Tk50,000 for misconduct after the incident at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan ground Wednesday with Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited player Elias Sunny.
The technical committee of Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis also fined the manager of Sheikh Jamal team Tk50,000 and warned Elias Sunny with regards to the same incident.
BCB confirmed the verdict on this issue Thursday afternoon after Sheikh Jamal filed an official complaint Wednesday.
The press release from the BCB media department stated as: “An incident involving two players and a club official that took place at the BKSP on June 16, 2021 has been reported to the CCDM.
"The technical committee of CCDM held a virtual hearing on the evening of June 16 where the players Elias of Sheikh Jamal, Sabbir of Rupganj, Sheikh Jamal manager Sultan Mahmud and the match officials were present.
"After an extensive hearing session the technical committee has decided to take the following disciplinary measures:
1. Fine of BDT50,000 each for Sabbir of Rupganj and Sheikh Jamal’s manager Mahmud.
2. Warning to Elias of Sheikh Jamal.”
The incident took place at BKSP 3 ground Wednesday during the match-day of Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League Twenty20.
Sheikh Jamal were playing at BKSP 3 ground against Old DOHS in the morning.
Sabbir’s team Rupganj were scheduled to play against Partex Sporting Club at the adjacent BKSP 4 ground.
According to the complaint filed by Sheikh Jamal, while crossing the BKSP 3 ground, Sabbir from the outside racially abused Sheikh Jamal player Elias, who was fielding at the boundary line at that moment.
The complaint stated, Sabbir shouted "Kailla" (derogatory word describing people of black skin in Bengali) to Elias several times, and also pelted stones incessantly at the same time from outside the ground.
