Bangladesh cricketers and team management have all tested Covid-19 negative in their first test, ahead of entering the bio-bubble security for the home ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh Cricket Board's chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury informed the media that all members of the team have tested negative, and will have to pass a second test before being allowed in the bio-secured bubble in the team hotel Tuesday.
Samples for the second round of Covid-19 tests have already been collected and the reports are expected Monday evening.
“Samples of members of both the Bangladesh team and touring Sri Lanka team were collected Sunday. All have tested Covid-19 negative. (Monday) we collected samples for the second round of tests. Only those who are negative in both the tests will be allowed to enter the bio-bubble in the hotel. We will collect samples from Sri Lanka team members for the second test (Tuesday),” said Dr Debashish to the media Monday.
Dr Debashish further informed that the two teams will undergo a third test a day ahead of the first ODI of the series.
The three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh is scheduled to begin Sunday.
The second and third game of the series will be played on May 25 and 28 respectively.
All the matches will be played at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka team will play intra-squad 50-over practice matches ahead of the series.
Bangladesh cricketers will play the practice game Thursday at BKSP Ground 4, while Sri Lanka will play their match Friday at BKSP Ground 3.
