South Africa emerging women’s team to fly home early

The fifth and the final one-day match between hosts Bangladesh emerging women’s team and visitors South Africa women’s series has been cancelled due to impending flight restrictions in the country.

Bangladesh is set to go into a strict lockdown from Wednesday due to the upsurge in Covid-19 cases in the country.

The game scheduled to take place on Tuesday at Sylhet International Stadium has been conceded through a mutual decision between Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA).

The decision to cancel the last match was taken to accommodate South Africa team’s return home before the suspension of international flight operations with the start of the lockdown.

The Bangladesh Emerging Team had taken an unassailable 4-0 lead in the series.

Bangladesh till Sunday recorded 684,000 Covid-19 cases and the death toll reached 9,739.
