Miraz stresses importance of fitness

Youngster Mehedi Hasan Miraz is performing well in the conditioning programme so far and has admitted that the training will help the players to become more fit in future. “Actually we do not get enough time to work on our fitness. If we get 20-25 days per year, that will be very important for our fitness," Miraz told the media on Tuesday. The 19-year-old was not in the team when the last fitness camp ended: "I was in the High Performance team (but) we played cricket based on that camp for a year. That was a good conditioning camp,” he said. Since then Miraz has become an integral part of the national team set-up, and is eager to continue his run in the side and face the challenges of trying to prepare himself both physically and mentally. "We have a very busy schedule in the next  year. We have the Australia series, then we will visit South Africa, and so on. I think this fitness camp will play a very important role,” he said.

"Personally I am not thinking about the Australia series right now. If I start to, it might distract me from my fitness development process. If I concentrate on the fitness now then the series will get my best effort automatically," Miraz said.
“I love to take challenges and we have many good series ahead. I hope to get some good results. The three-week fitness camp is very important for us. I would not get this kind of opportunity. This is a good chance to shape ourselves for that period,” he added.
The young all-rounder has been picked by the T20 franchise Trinbago Knight Riders as one of their overseas players, and will fly to the West Indies after the fitness camp for his  maiden Caribbean Premier League campaign. “I have informed the board about playing in the CPL. Hopefully I will get the No-Objection Certificate soon,” 'Miraz said.
