Mustafizur issued NOC to play IPL 2021

Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been issued No Objection Certificate by the Bangladesh Cricket Board to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League Twenty20.

BCB came to the decision as Mustafizur is not being considered for Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series in April.

Chief of the national selection panel Minhajul Abedin Saturday confirmed the issuance of the NOC to Mustafizur.

Mustafizur thus is set to feature for Rajasthan Royals in the tournament.

The Royals had picked Mustafizur at the base price of INR 1 crore during the 2021 IPL players' auction.

“We have given him NOC for IPL as he is not in our Test plans for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. It's better if he plays there and gains some experience,” said Minhajul to the media Saturday.

Confusion was at large over the BCB issuing the NOC to Mustafizur following controversy surrounding all-rounder Shakib al Hasan.

Shakib stirred a debate by choosing to skip Bangladesh duty and instead take part in the money-spinning IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Following the reaction of the board and general supporters, Mustafizur expressed desire to play for the country first and then franchise tournaments.

BCB has recently moved away from its decision to not allow cricketers to participate in franchise leagues by skipping national duty.

The board allowed Shakib in the IPL citing that they do not want to force any cricketer to play for the national team.
