National team discard batsman Nasir Hossain aims to score around 1000 runs in the Bangabandhu 22nd National Cricket League (BNCL) that is all set to begin on Monday. Right-handed batsman Nasir playing for Rangpur Division in the tournament wants to mark his return in competitive cricket with the milestone.
Rangpur will face Dhaka Division at BKSP Ground 3 in the first round of the tournament.
“This is a comeback tournament for me. My target is to finish with the most runs in the tournament. We have six matches, so would like to score some 800 to 1000 runs. I will try that,” said Nasir to the media on Sunday.
Nasir is coming into the tournament at the back of huge controversy involving his marriage. Nasir married Tamima Sultana Tammi on February 14. The joyous occasion was however marred after one Md Rakib Hasan had claimed to be still married to Tamima and went on to take legal action against the newly married couple.
Nasir said, controversy in personal life will not affect him on the field.
“This is cricket field so the full focus is put on the game. It is same with all the players. You do not remember anything from out of the field while you are batting or bowling. Whatever I have done (getting married to Tamima) was totally legal,” said Nasir.
“I might show you all the documents in a press conference soon. We are not a so dumb that we will get married without getting (her) divorced. We have not shown all papers in public. There are two three Youtubers who made a big issue out of this and people are so illiterate that the start judging seeing one side of the story,” Nasir added.
