The first of five one-dayers between Bangladesh Emerging Team and Ireland Wolves was called off after the latter’s pacer Ruhan Pretorius tested Covid-19 positive at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong Friday.
Asked to bat first, the hosts posted 122 runs losing four wickets in 30 overs when news filtered through of Pretorius’ positive test.
Upon coming to know about the development, match officials called off the first one-dayer, with the second match scheduled to be held at the same venue Sunday.

Both the teams, who are inside bio-secured bubble, were tested two days before the game, and all the players’ test came out as negative bar Pretorius, but the results were only known once the game got underway.
Pretorius, who bowled four overs and conceded 14 runs for Yasir Ali’s wicket, was then isolated from the rest of the group and taken to the team hotel separately.
Following the one-day series, the two teams will also lock horns with each other in two T20s, while the series began with a solitary four-dayer which the home side won by an innings and 23 runs inside three days.
