Preparation ahead of Australia Tests still in place

Australia A players’ boycott of the South Africa tour due to pay dispute with their cricket board, Cricket Australia, has created confusion regarding their scheduled tour of Bangladesh this August. However, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed that their players are preparing themselves accordingly and hoped the ongoing dispute between Australia cricketers and their board will end before the two-match Test series starts. “Australia are scheduled to come in the middle of August. So we still have more than a month in our hands. Actually it's too early to make any comment. At the moment it is not the right time to be concerned about the series. Australia delegation team will arrive this month and they will share their observation,” Nizamuddin told the media in Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.
“We are hoping that the delegation team will come according to schedule. We are not planning any alternative series at the moment and there is no chance of planning alternatives as well,” he said.
The Mirpur stadium, also known as the home of cricket in Bangladesh, has been under construction for the last few months. The final preparation is going on and the CEO expects the renovation work to be complete well within time, before the start of the Australia series. “We have some planning about the ground. Work on top of the surface is going on. Experts are analysing the development work. We hope that we will complete all the work within time,” he said. Nizamuddin added that after the ICC meeting, the BCB was assured that Bangladesh will play more series against the other cricketing nations on a regular basis.

“We have been assured that Bangladesh will play series on a regular basis. In the past, it was often seen that there were long breaks where we had no international fixtures. But it will change now. From our point of view, we need to ensure that we play against higher-ranked opponents,” he said. Meanwhile, Shakib al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Sabbir Rahman and Imrul Kayes were recently picked during the players draft of the Afghanistan T20 League. The BCB CEO informed that they have not received any formal proposal yet. If any proposal comes, then the board will consider it, he said.
