The board later signed former New Zealand batsman Craig McMillan for the scheduled tour of Sri Lanka in June this year, but McMillan decided not to join the role after losing his father.

“We have a few candidates for the post of the batting consultant of our national team. We are in discussions with all of them and at the moment it won’t be appropriate to disclose any name. Earlier, we appointed McMillan as the batting consultant for the Sri Lanka series. However, he was not able to join for family reasons,” said BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan to the media.
The 50-year old Lewis has been in the BCB shortlist for the batting coach since McKenzie quit from the role.
In the sub-continent, Lewis worked as Sri Lanka’s batting coach in the 2019 World Cup.
In the English county circuit, Lewis orchestrated Durham’s one-day title win in 2014.
Bangladesh squad for the Windies series has already been chalked out and is likely to be announced in the first week of January.
The foreign coaching staff including head coach Russell Domingo will join the camp that is scheduled to start immediately after he declaration of the squad.
