Bangabandhu T20 Cup players, staff to undergo Covid-19 testing Friday

Players and management staff of the participating teams in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020 are set to undergo Covid-19 testing Friday. 

The negative results will on-board the team hotel the next day while those positive will be put into isolation.  

It is understood that players and management staff whose tests are Covid-19 positive will be kept at Bangladesh Cricket Board Academy complex. 

In case the number of positive cases is high, the five participating teams in the tournament will have to make their arrangements, which is whether to keep the player in isolation or take a replacement. 

The teams are allowed to get the replacement for Covid-19 cases and will have to pick the players from the list of unsold players in the players’ draft, which took place Thursday.

The cricketers will check into the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel at the capital and all the five teams will be kept on two separate floors, which will be inside the bio-secure bubble. 

The team physios of each team will guide the members of the team to follow the health protocols set by the BCB.

The Bangabandhu T20 Cup is set to start from November 24 and is being seen as an event arranged by the board to understand and prepare standard Covid-19 health safety protocol and use the experience to host international series. 

Bangladesh are scheduled to host the West Indies in January next year.
