The “Bangladeshi Tigers have knocked out the England Lions from the World Cup”. This famous sentence was uttered by former England captain and commentator Nasser Hussain after Bangladesh beat England in the World Cup 2015 in Adelaide. The Tigers will take on host England on Thursday and this time around, it’s the opening game of the 2017 Champions Trophy. Dhaka Tribune caught up with the former English skipper for an exclusive interview where he talked briefly about the Tigers' chances, among other topics. Here are the excerpts: How do you rate England’s chances? Very good as they are the home team. However, they had a bad day at Lord’s against South Africa a few days ago. But in general, they have played some magnificent cricket over the last 18 months. Obviously, they have got Bangladesh in the opening game. Bangladesh knocked them out from the last World Cup in the famous night in Adelaide. You never know in this tournament as so many good teams are there. One loss and you could be out of the tournament. England and Bangladesh are in a very tough group so England will have to play well. Who are the key players for England? The key player for England I would say is the captain, Eoin Morgan. He has had two quiet world tournaments such as the World T20 and the World Cup where he did not get many runs. But since then, he has been magnificent on and off the field leading the side well, batting well. And he was the player of the series against South Africa. Obviously, Ben Stokes has just gone from strength to strength since last year. Given his performances in the IPL and for England, I think Stokes can play a massive role as well. How do see Bangladesh's rise since the last 50-over World Cup? I think they have come really well in the last year or two. And some of their results have been incredible. They have played very well recently. They won that Test match (against Sri Lanka) deservedly and could have won the series as well. But they just need to go through those pressure moments. Sometimes you see when Bangladesh are under pressure, they react a bit too much. If they can get the coach and the team to just remain calm, they have got the ability definitely. They have got the players. Some of them are very experienced, which makes them a very experienced team now. You know people have been there for a long time. All they need to do is to keep calm in the pressure moments. And I think they could be successful. I love watching the Fizz (Mustafizur Rahman). I hope he stays fit as he delivers under pressure and his death bowling is going to be very, very important. So Bangladesh have got a good chance. It will no longer be a surprise if they beat any of the sides. Every side is now wary of Bangladesh.
