Next season's Bangladesh Cricket League first-class tournament will be held at three venues in Dhaka, rather than across the country, when it begins on September 20.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board's grounds committee chairman Hanif Bhuiyan, following a meeting on Monday, informed that the franchise-based tournament will be played at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah and in two venues at the BKSP in Savar.
“England is scheduled to tour at the end of September so we cannot have Mirpur (Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium) and Chittagong (Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium) for BCL this year. We had a meeting [yesterday] along with the curators and the tournament committee and have come to a decision that two fields in BKSP and the Fatullah stadium will be the venues for the BCL this year,” said Hanif.
England is scheduled to reach Dhaka on September 30 for two Tests and three one-day internationals against hosts Bangladesh in the month-long tour. SBNS in Dhaka and ZACS are the two venues for the bilateral series. The English side will also play three tour matches, a one-day and two two-day games. Fatullah and MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong are venues for the warm-up games.
