Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has praised Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim for his initiative to help the coronavirus-affected people by selling one of his souvenir bats in auction.
Afridi Foundation came forward to buy the bat auctioned by Mushfiq for $20,000 Friday.
The bat is a historic one as Mushfiq used it to score the country’s first ever Test double hundred.
Afridi is also doing social activities in Pakistan to help the people during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through a video message posted on Mushfiq’s official facebook account, Afridi said, “Assalamu Alaikum Mushfiq, the work you are doing to help your people is outstanding. Real life heroes do such type of work. We are passing a tough time. In this crisis moment we need each other to step up. The love and affection I have received from Bangladeshi fans, I will remember that forever. On behalf of Pakistan, I want to be a part of your noble cause by buying your cricket bat. From the whole Pakistan and Shahid Afridi Foundation, prayers are with you. Inshallah this disease will be over and we will meet in the cricket field soon, Thank You.”
