Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will give financial support to 1600 cricketers playing in the first, second and third division leagues. These cricketers are not contracted with the board. BCB has decided to come in support of the female cricketers too, as the country follows and unofficial lockdown since March 26.
Earlier, BCB had provided a one-time financial support to 96 First-class cricketers and female cricketers. The cricketers were then given Taka 30,000 and 20,000 respectively.
“The board president directed us to help the cricketers who are not in any contract with BCB. We are working to help the cricketers before eid. The amount might not be a big one, but we will provide it before eid to support them,” said BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury to the media on Monday.
It is understood that BCB is yet to confirm the amount for each cricketer which will range between Taka 5000 to Taka 10,000.
On March 19, BCB had suspended all cricketing activities in the country with growing concern of Covid-19 cases.
