Tamim likely to play for Dhaka Platoon on Monday

Dhaka Platoon opener Tamim Iqbal rejoined his side in Chittagong on Saturday evening, and is expected to play in the Bangbandhu Bangladesh Premier League T20 clash against Cumilla Warriors at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Monday .

The experienced left-hander did not travel to Chittagong with the rest of the Platoon squad and missed last Wednesday’s match against Chattogram Challengers as he had been suffering from a high fever and upset stomach.

He was hospitalized for one night in Dhaka.

In the match against the Challengers, Dhaka Platoon fielded Mominul Haque, also a left hander, in Tamim’s place. Mominul scored a steady 52 off 53 balls in the match where Platoon lost by 18 runs.

Tamim Iqbal has so far played three matches in the BBPL T20. The southpaw, who had been out of action since Bangladesh’s tour of Sri Lanka in July, started off with a poor showing against Rajshahi Royals before scoring a match-winning 74 off 53 against Cumilla Platoon’s second match. He then scored 31 against Sylhet Thunder in the third, before falling sick.
