Opening batsman Imrul Kayes has given importance on taking appropriate preparation for future international Test series’ against quality sides.
Imrul played a match-winning innings, scoring 61 off 38 deliveries for Chattogram Challengers against Sylhet Thunder in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 Wednesday.
Imrul had a tough series just a few weeks back against India as the Test opener of the national team scored 6, 6, 4, 5 in his four innings, and looked shaky at the middle.
Bangladesh lost both the Test matches against the world’s No 1 side and in each and every innings, the Tigers openers failed to get off to a good start.

When questioned whether his performance Wednesday will help him get back some confidence after a difficult India series, Imrul said Bangladesh team need to take preparation for longer period of time before playing away Test series’.
“Criticisms will be there always. A person is only being criticized when he becomes famous. I am also very upset that I did not perform in the India Tests. I believe our preparation for the Tests should have been better. As a Test player, we need at least two-three weeks of preparation when we play against top-level opposition away. Just three-four days of preparation or playing matches in the National [Cricket] League is not sufficient. Facing our local bowlers in the national league and then playing international series away against tough opposition is really difficult. Not for me only, I think it will be difficult even for every top batsman in the world as well,” said Imrul to the media at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Wednesday.
“I never get upset anymore. If you say about the pressure in national team, we play a few matches there. If you don’t score runs for just one match in the national team then it creates pressure. But here, in BPL, I know I will play every match. It’s easy to perform and score runs when you have such freedom,” Imrul concluded.
