Shamim Hossain and Towhid Hridoy played two outstanding knocks to help the Bangladesh under-19 team beat visiting Sri Lanka under-19 by five wickets in a curtailed youth ODI at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna Monday.
Shamim scored 95 off 61 balls and Hridoy struck 82 off 56 to help their side reach a score of 210/5 in just 25.4 overs, after the Lankan side had been restricted to 209/7 in 31 overs.
The hosts were in all sorts of trouble on 42/4 in the eighth over, but left-handed batsman Shamim and right-hander Hridoy took the game by the scruff of the neck, with a partnership of 161 in just 106 balls. Shamim, who also picked up two wickets, was adjudged man of the match.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field. Sri Lankan opener Navod Paranavithana top scored for his side with 78.
Bangladesh now lead the five match series 1-0 after two games. The first match was abandoned without a ball being bowled, due to inclement weather.
