Bangladesh A team had a disappointing day in Sooriyawewa, Hambantota as hosts Sri Lanka A team ended the third day of the second unofficial Test match with 126 without losing any wicket in their second innings.
Sri Lankan opener Pathum Neesanka remained not out on 75 while his partner Sangeeth Cooray was on 50 as the hosts effaced the first innings deficit of 62 runs to take a lead of 64 runs at the stumps of the penultimate day.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh started the day with 283/6 in their first innings replying Sri Lanka’s 268. Nurul Hasan, who was not out on 35 overnight, got out after adding just a single but another not out batsman Mehedi Hasan Miraz took his score of six to 38 before he was ran out of partners to be stranded not out.
Mohammed Siraz was the pick of the bowlers as he grabbed 5/63. Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque’s 117 was chief reason the visitors could get a lead.
During the first day of the match, Miraz grabbed seven wickets to bundle out the opponents for 268 after the hosts had won the toss.
The first match of the two-match series was ended on a draw.
