Bangladesh U-19 cricket team continued their impressive tour of New Zealand with yet another win as they beat the junior Kiwis by six wickets in the second youth one-day international at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln Thursday.
Like the first youth ODI, the margin of victory was similar as the junior Tigers made light work of the home side’s 242/6, reaching their destination with 21 balls to spare.
No 3 batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy (99) led the way for the visiting side, adding 95 for the second wicket with opener Tanzid Hasan (65), to lay the foundations for victory.
Joy faced 125 balls during his 2-hour 38-minute vigil at the crease.
He struck 10 fours and was ably supported by Tanzid, whose quickfire 63-ball knock featured five fours and a couple of sixes, as the second wicket pair ensured opener Parvez Hossain Emon’s (six) early departure would not derail their hope.

Joy and No 4 batter Towhid Hridoy (40) then put together a 77-run stand for the third wicket to take the youngsters in red and green on the verge of victory, before the former got stranded just one short of a well-deserved century.
Bangladesh U-19 were taken to shore by Shamim Hossain and Shahadat Hossain, who were unbeaten on 15 and four respectively.
Earlier, the host were restricted to 242 for the loss of six wickets in their stipulated 50 overs.
Opening batter Thomas Zohrab scored the highest 112 while others built partnerships around him to take the home side to a challenging total.
Bangladesh U-19’s Mrittunjoy Chowdhury bagged two wickets while Shamim, Rakibul Hasan, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Shariful Islam notched one each.
Bangladesh U-19 lead 2-0 in the five-match series heading into the decisive third game, scheduled to be held at the same venue Sunday.
