Bangladesh U-19 cricket team advanced to their first ever U-19 Asia Cup final after rain forced the abandonment of their semi-final against Afghanistan Thursday in Moratuwa’s Tyrone Fernando Stadium.
The junior Tigers went through to the grand finale courtesy their superior position in the group stages, where they finished as Group B champion.
Bangladesh won all their group phase games, against Sri Lanka, Nepal and the UAE.

In contrast, the Afghans ended second in Group A, behind India.
Bangladesh will face India in the final Saturday as rain also played spoilsport in the other semi clash between the Indians and the Lankans in Colombo’s P Sara Oval Thursday.
It promises to be a fascinating affair against six-time champion India, who also won their three group stage matches, against Afghanistan, Pakistan and Kuwait.
