Emerging Bangladesh women concede series

After the joy of winning the unofficial three-ODI series, the Emerging Bangladesh women’s cricket team tasted the disappointment of losing the unofficial three-T20I series as they lost to their South African counterparts by six wickets Thursday in Pretoria.

The Bangladesh women in the process conceded the series 2-0 after going down by just five runs in the first unofficial T20I Wednesday at the same venue.

The third and final game of the series will be held Sunday.

Asked to bat first, the visiting side made a pedestrian 119 losing four wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, captain Nigar Sultana top-scoring for her side with 44 off 51 deliveries.

Opener Sanjida Islam made 33, while middle-order batter Fahima Khatun was not out on 26.

In pursuit of 120, the home side barely made it with only three balls remaining.

Player of the match Dane van Niekerk scored the highest unbeaten 50 off 40 deliveries.

Bangladesh’s Shaila Sharmin bagged two wickets.
