Sri Lanka top-order batsman Kusal Mendis registered his 16th ODI half century and aided his side to a competitive total.
Mendis came to the middle after host Sri Lanka lost opener Dimuth Karunaratne in the 21st over, and were reeling on 96 for two.
Before perishing on 54 off 58 deliveries with five boundaries and an over boundary, Mendis played a starring role, putting on 101 with Angelo Mathews for the fourth wicket.
For Mendis, the half-century was the third in 11 ODIs against Bangladesh since his introduction to the format in 2017.
@Mustafiz90 in the two matches played against @OfficialSLC notched four wickets, bowling 18 overs, and conceded 125 runs.https://t.co/xc1Qe4l0Yh#BCBTIGERS #BCB #TIGERS #BANGLADESH #CRICKET #BANGLADESHCRICKET #SRILANKA #SLC #SRILANKACRICKET #MUSTAFIZURRAHMAN #MUSTAFIZUR #FIZZ

However, it was the seniorman Mathews who made the most contribution for the host, scoring 87 off 90.
Off the three partnerships he had in the middle, 52 with Dasun Shanaka for the fifth was crucial.
The right-handed batsman departed in the first ball of the last over of the innings, having registered his 40th ODI half century, and fourth against Bangladesh.
