Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan, who enjoyed a memorable World Cup 2019, said his century against host England was the most special among all his knocks in the flagship ICC event as the Tigers concluded their campaign at eighth place in the 10-team standing.
Shakib totaled 606 runs and took 11 wickets in eight innings in England and Wales and created a host of records along the way.
He became the first ever cricketer in the history of the World Cup to aggregate 600 runs and bag 10-plus wickets in a single edition.
He also joined the likes of India’s Sachin Tendulkar and Australia’s Matthew Hayden to cross 600 runs in a single World Cup.
@BCBtigers' campaign concluded with a bitter defeat against @TheRealPCB at @HomeOfCricket in London, which made the Tigers fans feel sorry and frustrated as Bangladesh had high hope of reaching the last four in the @cricketworldcup.https://t.co/3EZeDuQfiW#BCBTIGERS #BANGLADESH

“I had to graft really hard against Afghanistan because they had quality spinners and the wicket was also difficult. But if I had to name one special innings, it would be the one against England. All the knocks gave me a good feeling but the one against the home side was special,” Shakib told the media in London Saturday.
“Personally I’m feeling good, really happy. The mentality that I had after coming here, the expectation that I had, the wish that I had, I’m satisfied on all fronts.
“I’m not a person who plays for records. I was mentally tired in the last two matches (against India and Pakistan). Even then, since my fitness level was good, it was all okay.”
