Tigers' blistering opening stand
Regular opening batsman Tamim Iqbal missed the second and final T20I due to back injury. Imrul Kayes replaced Tamim. And the new opening pair – the in-form Soumya Sarkar and Imrul - gave Bangladesh a blistering start. These two batted beautifully and scored boundaries all over the park. They made 68 runs in the first six overs and laid the foundation for a big total. Soumya blasted 34 off 17 balls with four boundaries and two huge sixes. However, he got out in soft fashion when he presented a return catch to part-time seamer Asela Gunaratne. Imrul on the other hand, was run out while taking a risky single. He made 36 off 25 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six.Malinga hat-trick
Bangladesh were cruising at one stage as the scoreboard read 169/5 with Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmadullah well set at the crease. But then came Lasitha Malinga, one of the world's best bowlers in the slog overs. And he showed exactly why he is one of the best as he bagged a hat-trick in the 19th over of Bangladesh's innings. Malinga accounted for the wickets of Mushfiq, debutant Mehedi Hasan Miraz and limited-over captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza. The first two dismissals came off slower deliveries while the hat-trick ball resulted in a leg-before wicket. Miraz was helpless as he was pinned in front. This is Malinga's fourth treble in international cricket.Skipper signs off with win
It was an emotional day for Mashrafe and millions of cricket-crazy fans in Bangladesh as the charismatic skipper was playing his last T20I. Bangladesh players gave a guard of honour to their retiring captain while stepping out on the field. Mashrafe took one wicket in his final T20I appearance, ending up with bowling figures of 4-0-30-1. When the final wicket fell, Mashrafe was fielding at short fine leg. And, he celebrated the moment by raising his hands up into the air. Goodbye, Captain Fantastic.
