Sporting Miraz will understand if dropped from XI

Bangladesh all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz admitted he can be dropped anytime from the playing XI in the tri-nation ODI series, or even in the World Cup 2019 matches, considering the weather and the seaming-friendly conditions in the Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The off-spinner however, accepts the fact sportingly as he believes the team always comes first.

Bangladesh have Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain and Abu Jayed Rahi in the squad as genuine pace bowlers.

They also have Farhad Reza as a medium pace-bowling all-rounder option so Miraz can be dropped bearing in mind the match situation, and the youngster is mindful of the fact.

“Any change can happen for better team combination. If I have to be dropped for the team combination, then it is always acceptable. Because we always play for the team first. But whenever the opportunity to play comes, I always try to give my 100%,” said Miraz at their team hotel at Castleknock in Dublin Saturday.

Miraz performed well in the first game of the tri-series against the West Indies Tuesday in Dublin as the all-rounder conceded only 38 runs in his quota of 10 overs, and picked up the wicket of opener Sunil Ambris.

“I tried to give as many dot balls as possible. The wicket was helpful for the spinners. Although there was not that much turn, we managed to ball in good spots, and it clicked for us. After getting wicket in my first over, I got the confidence that if I can maintain good line and length, then it will not be easy for the batsmen to score runs. And that’s what exactly happened,” said Miraz.

Bangladesh players enjoyed a day-off from practice Saturday while a few spent their time in regular gym sessions, but most of them took rest.

The Tigers will face the Windies next at Malahide Cricket Club Ground Monday.

They won the first match against the West Indies by eight wickets while their second game against Ireland was washed out.

“This tri-series is important for us because it’s just before the World Cup. These conditions are kind of similar, compared to the UK. If we can play good cricket here, and as players take proper for the upcoming mega event, then it will definitely boost our confidence,” he concluded.
