Hetmyer batting proves there’s no demon on pitch

In both the innings of the Dhaka Test match, the West Indies batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards. But there was one exception in Shimron Hetmyer. The left-handed middle-order batsman scored 39 off 53 balls in the first innings, and made 93 off 92 balls in the second. He smashed 10 sixes in the match, in complete contrast to the rest of the Windies scorecard. Where other batsmen struggled to judge the line and length of the Bangladesh spinners, Hetmyer showed that there were runs on the pitch, and was not an unplayable rank turner. Hetmyer hit one six in the first innings with three boundaries, and smashed nine sixers in the second innings with one four. All of his sixes were proper cricketing shots. They were aggressive and clean hits. He used his feet well in both innings and also defended well, which is something the remaining batsmen were unable to do in the Dhaka Test. It was brave and positive batting from the Guyanese batsman.
