Former Australian captain and world’s number one Test batsman, Steve Smith is all set to join Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) team Comilla Victorians for the sixth edition of the T20 tournament according to a post on the T20 franchise’s verified Facebook page.
The post, giving a hint of the right-handed batsman joining wrote: “A new T-20 specialist has just joined the Victorian squad. After entertaining all of us throughout IPL, Big Bash and many other T-20 tournaments, he's joined the Victorian squad now to entertain in the BPL. Can you guess the name of this superstar?”
Previously, the inclusion of Australian opener David Warner was announced on Sylhet Sixers’ verified Facebook page via a similar post. Both players are serving a one-year international cricket ban after pleading guilty to ball tampering in a Test match against South Africa, earlier this year.
Smith is one of the top batsmen in world cricket and his numbers are impressive in T20’s too. He has scored 3309 runs at an average of 29.81 and a strike rate of 125.48 in 162 games.
