Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan did not term the Chittagong wicket as “unplayable” as the first Test match against the West Indies ended in two and a half days.
Eight wickets fell on day one in the Chittagong Test.
And on the second day, as many as 17 wickets fell, and the remaining 15 fell in two sessions on day three.
But Tigers skipper Shakib believes the wicket was not in “unplayable” condition as both the teams’ tail-enders managed to post fifty-plus partnerships on two occasions.
Bangladesh tail-enders Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan added 65 for the ninth wicket on day one and day two.

The Windies’ Sunil Ambris and No 10 batsman Jomel Warrican formed a 63-run stand for the ninth wicket.
Among those 63 runs, Warrican scored 41 off 55 balls.
“I would not say this wicket was unplayable. Because if it was unplayable, then it would have not been possible to build a partnership of 50-60 runs for the ninth wicket. So definitely, the wicket was not unplayable,” said Shakib during the post-match press conference at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Saturday.
The Tigers went on to win the first Test by 64 runs.
The second and final Test of the series will begin Friday at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
