Debutant pacer Khaled Ahmed started well in the first innings as he bowled with good pace and accuracy in the first spell. The first two overs he bowled were maidens against Zimbabwe skipper Hamilton Masakadza. The tall right-arm pacer was unlucky as Masakadza’s catch was dropped by all-rounder Ariful Haque at second slip in 3.4 overs. It was a nice set up by Khaled as he bowled constantly outside off to Masakadza. Finally, Masakadza was prompted to chase an outswinging delivery outside off after facing 10 deliveries from Khaled, and managed to get an outside edge. But Ariful could not grab the chance and Khaled missed out on the opportunity to get his first Test wicket in his first spell. Actually, the catch was going straight to first slip where Mohammad Mithun was stationed. But Ariful, from second slip dived to his left to grab it, only to drop it in the end.
