Soumya to lead BCB XI against Zimbabwe

Top order batsman Soumya Sarkar has been named captain as the BCB declared a 12-member BCB XI squad for the one-day practice game against tourists Zimbabwe ahead of the three-match ODI series. The lone warm-up game will be played at BKSP, Savar on Friday.

Soumya is to lead a side comprising national cricketers Mosaddek Hossain, Ariful Haque, and Saifuddin. The squad also consist Mizanur Rahman and Fazle Rabbi who are being highly considered for the national team. Batsman Fazle Rabbi has already been named as a member of the Bangladesh squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe. Mizanur, who has been in burning form in the ongoing National Cricket League, is likely to get a call for the Test series.

Zimbabwe reached Bangladesh on Tuesday and got their first practice session at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday. The African nation in their month long tour of Bangladesh will play a two-match Test series and a three-match ODI series against the home team.
