Nazmul set to become ACC chief

BCB president Nazmul Hasan is set to be named the next Asian Cricket Council president. Nazmul will be handed the charge in the next ACC meeting scheduled to take place in Lahore on November 18.

The ACC gets its president in cycle among the four Test playing Asian nations in shape of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Nazmul is supposed to come as successor of Pakistan’s Shehreyar Khan who has been leading the organisation since 2016.

The last ACC president from Bangladesh was AHM Mustafa Kamal. Kamal had headed the organisation from 2010 till 2012. Nazmul will be the fourth Bangladeshi to take charge as the ACC president.  Anisul Islam Mahmud was the first Bangladeshi to chair the organisation in 1989-91 before Mohammad Ali Ashgar held the reign from 2002 to 2004.
