Guyana conditions aid Tigers says Shakib

The condition in Providence Stadium, Guyana suits Bangladesh and taking advantage of that the side will like to win the second ODI and win the series with a match to spare said the side’s premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

Bangladesh till date have played two ODIs in Guyana, in 2007 World Cup against South Africa and the second against West Indies on Sunday last, and have won both the games.

According to Shakib the wicket in Guyana aids the Bangladesh spinners and they would like to make best use of the advantage against a strong West Indies batting line-up.

“As we all know Guyana is the only wicket in West Indies that helps spinners and has a lot similarity with Bangladesh, especially the grass and soil. It is a positive for us. We played two matches here till date and we won both. Tomorrow the game is important for us and we are focused on that,” said Shakib to the media in Guyana on Tuesday.

Shakib informed the venue of the third ODI, in Saint Kitts, will aid Windies batsmen.

“The team always wants to win every match. We will need to put some extra effort tomorrow (Wednesday) because the home side will come strong at us to bounce back in the series. We will not need to think of the last game in Saint Kitts if we can win the second game here. We would also like to win the last game too but for now our focus is on tomorrow. The wicket at Saint Kitts is batting friendly and the ground is a bit smaller which will help their batting. So our target will be to win the game here and then think of the rest,” the Bangladesh Test and T20I captain explained.

After a dreadful Test series Bangladesh got off to a good start to the three-match ODI series. The Tigers were clinical as they registered a 48 run win riding on heroics from senior players with both the bat and the ball.
