Bangladesh women’s squad named for World T20I Qualifiers

The BCB Tuesday named a 18-member squad, including four standby players, for the tour of Ireland and the Women’s World T20I Qualifiers, scheduled to be hosted by the Netherlands.

The Bangladesh women’s team will leave here for Ireland Sunday where they will play three T20Is against the home side, before leaving for the Netherlands.

The Ireland T20Is will serve as preparation for the World T20I Qualifiers, slated for July 7-14.

Bangladesh were earlier grouped together with Papua New Guinea, host Netherlands and the UAE when the ICC announced the details of the World T20 Qualifiers last month.

Group B comprises Ireland, Scotland, Thailand and Uganda.

The top two teams from the Qualifiers will join Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and host West Indies in the tournament finals, scheduled to be held from November 2-25 this year.

Bangladesh will face PNG in their opening game on July 7 before taking on the Dutch and the Emiratis on July 8 and 10 respectively.

The women in red and green will also lock horns with Scotland in a practice match on July 5.
