Bangladesh will leave Dhaka for Dehradun, India Tuesday for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan without left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, a BCB statement said.
Mustafizur is nursing an injury on his left toe and underwent X-ray Monday. Further tests will be carried out Tuesday to assess the extent of the injury.
Earlier, Bangladesh interim head coach Courtney Walsh admitted slight concern regarding Mustafizur, who has just returned from the IPL T20 2018 after his stint with Mumbai Indians.
Walsh however, expressed hope Mustafizur would come back strong against the Afghans.
“At the moment he has a slight toe problem. He is not 100% now. We have given him a couple of days off. We want him firing when we get to India. He has improved quite a lot. His strength has come back. I think he is getting there in his space. I think he will deliver in India. The bowlers have to put their hands up, but not just Rubel [Hossain] or Fizz. Whichever seam bowler we use, we want them to stand out. Our spinners have always been consistent,” said Walsh.
The Tigers will take on the Afghans in three T20Is on June 3, 5 and 7 respectively.
