Taskin vows to come back strong

Bangladesh paceman Taskin Ahmed has vowed to come back with better performances after being excluded from the recently announced BCB central contracts list. The right-arm pacer was one of six cricketers who were omitted from the central contracts list. Following Bangladesh’s disastrous tour of South Africa in September-October last year, Taskin was one of those who got axed from the national fold for below-par performance. Taskin during the South Africa tour bagged only two wickets in three ODIs and remained wicket-less in the two T20Is and the lone Test match against the host nation. Before that, the right-arm pacer also failed to impress in the 2017 Champions Trophy, picking up just two wickets in as many games.

However, Taskin was recalled in the recently concluded Nidahas T20I tri-nation series but the pace bowler did not perform upto the mark. Taskin though informed that he is currently working on his fitness, and eyeing a comeback to the national side with effective performances. “Whatever happened has happened, I am not thinking about it. Rather, I am thinking about my mistakes. I am trying to learn from my mistakes. I have also talked with the seniors. And I am considering improving my fitness. I am facing an injury. So I want to be fit first,” Taskin said. “Obviously I am satisfied with my performance. I know I am a better bowler. I have proved it in the past. Now I have to prove it again. I know I have not performed well in the last few series. But I am working to improve myself. And I will try to perform better in future,” he added. Bangladesh’s next international fixture is against Afghanistan in June where the Tigers will play three or four T20Is.
