Vettori dons Rajshahi Kings jersey

An elated Daniel Vettori donned the Rajshahi Kings jersey Saturday after meeting the BPL T20 franchise's CEO Tahmeed Azizul Haque and director Abdur Razzak in Kolkata. Earlier last month, the former New Zealand captain inked a two-year deal with the Kings. The Kings through their social media platforms made the announcement of the signing of the former Kiwi left-arm spinner. The appointment of Vettori means the BPL side ended their association with Bangladeshi coach Sarwar Imran. Imran was the head coach of the Kings in the BPL seasons 2016 and 2017 when the side had finished second and sixth respectively. Vettori, who announced his retirement from international cricket following the 2015 World Cup, has bagful of experiences working in different franchise T20 leagues around the globe. The 39-year old from Auckland is currently the head coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL T20, Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash T20 League and Middlesex in the NatWest T20 Blast. Vettori’s inclusion means the BPL will have yet another decorated former cricketer as head coach. Last season, Khulna Titans and BPL 2017 champion Rangpur Riders created a lot of headlines appointing Sri Lanka legend Mahela Jayawardene and former Australia cricketer Tom Moody respectively as head coach. The sixth edition of the BPL T20 is likely to be held in October this year. However, the BPL governing council is yet to make a final decision on the schedule for the money-spinning event.
