I think our bowling has been doing really well. Even in the last series we saw in all the five Test matches, in four of them we were bowling first, and were able to get the opposition out (for) a reasonable score. I think our bowling has been going really well and those were good wickets. So I don’t find merit in this.

I think all the batsmen apply a lot of thought. They put in a lot of effort. They want to excel and breach their own benchmark. They are in their quest for excellence. Our job is to just give them some pointers so that they remain on the right track. All credit to batsmen for the way they prepare. Because of their mindset, they are able to transform their ability into performances.

You need to give a lot of credit to how the captain (Virat Kohli) thinks and how Anil [Kumble] thinks about it. It’s very important that the bowling unit is developed in such a fashion that even when India tour overseas, spinners will have to play a particular role and role reverses for seamers when they play in India. When spinners go overseas, they play the role of stock bowler. Generally, roles gets reversed as per situation. You need develop a bowling attack that gives you results in all conditions. That is thinking goes behind, and showing faith in quicker bowlers. You don’t often see three spinners playing with two seamers in the line-up, as far as playing in India is concerned. Lot of credit should go to Virat and Anil for the way they have planned things for Indian cricket.

Less purchase for bowlers from wickets
