NSU, BU win in ULAB Fair Play Cup

North South University and Bangladesh University registered victories in the 11th Fair Play Cup Inter Private University Cricket Tournament Monday in Dhaka. In the first match of the day, BU defeated Independent University Bangladesh by six wickets. Asked to bat first, IUB posted 160 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs, middle-order batsman Basit Ali top-scoring with a 40-ball 62, featuring seven fours and three sixes. In reply, BU reached their target in 18.2 overs, opener Zahirul Islam scoring the highest 83 for his side. Player of the match Zahirul’s 47-ball knock was composed with eight boundaries and five over boundaries. In the second game of the day, NSU defeated BRAC University by 15 runs.

Batting first, NSU registered a moderate 128 losing seven wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. In pursuit of 129, BRACU eventually fell short by 15 runs, scoring 107 before being all out with three balls remaining in their innings. NSU’s Azaz Mahmud bagged four wickets and was later adjudged player of the match. Tuesday, Uttara University will face Prime University at the same venue in the first match of the day while Green University Bangladesh will later take on European University Bangladesh. A total of 12 private universities are taking part in the tournament – NSU, BRACU, Southeast University, Daffodil International University, PU, GUB, EUB, IUB, Stamford University Bangladesh, BU, UU and host ULAB.
