Mushfiq, Bangladesh eyeing maiden T20I win against India

Bangladesh till date have faced India six times in the shortest format of the game and on all the occasions were on the losing end. The closest the Tigers came to winning a game against former world champion India was two years ago, when Bangladesh lost the World T20 encounter by just one run in Bangalore. However, with great momentum in the dressing room, Bangladesh can hope to bag their maiden T20I win against India when they face each other Wednesday in Colombo's R Premadasa Cricket Stadium, said Tigers' wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim. Bangladesh made a losing start to the Nidahas T20I tri-nation series against India last week but bounced back hard, clinching a five-wicket victory over host Sri Lanka Saturday. The Sri Lankans after being sent in to bat first had set a daunting target for the Tigers - 215 - and the visiting side achieved it in style to set new world records. Bangladesh are now counting on the momentum to take them to the grand finale. “In the T20I format you always need the momentum. In the first game we failed to execute plans but in the second game, batting-wise, we held our nerve and did things which were required. This confidence will boost us in the coming games. We can be a very good team in T20I format but we need to believe it," said Mushfiq to the media in Colombo Monday. "It is all about confidence but still, you need to start from ball one against India because they are a very strong side. We have a few good players who are in good touch from the last game. So I think it will be key to play again as a team and tighten up in bowling and fielding and get the result we want," the right-handed batsman added. Bangladesh following the Sri Lanka win had a day off Sunday. The side had planned a practice session Monday afternoon but were denied due to below-standard facilities at Sinhalese Sports Club.
