Awkward shot ends another promising Liton inningsBangladesh resumed the day on 56 runs for the loss of four wickets and overnight batsmen Liton Das and Mehedi Hasan Miraz had a big role to play in order to take the home side close to Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 222. Liton and Miraz started to rebuild the innings confidently and remained unbeaten until the fifth over of the day. In the last ball of the fifth over of the day, Liton played an unusual shot and lost his wicket. Sri Lanka paceman Suranga Lakmal bowled a delivery wide of off stump. Liton chased it without any foot movement and dragged the ball onto the stumps. An awkward shot ended Liton’s promising knock, much like his dismissal in Bangladesh’s second innings of the Chittagong Test match. Liton scored 25 off 54 balls with three boundaries.Bangladesh lose five wickets, score three runs in 21 ballsBatting collapse haunted Bangladesh in the last two weeks, starting with the tri-nation ODI series. But all those collapses were overshadowed Friday as the home side lost five wickets in just 21 balls, managing to score only three runs. The sixth wicket fell for 107 when skipper Mahmudullah was cleaned up by spinner Akila Dananjaya in the second ball of the 43rd over. Within the next 20 balls, Bangladesh lost another four wickets - Sabbir Rahman, Abdur Razzak, Taijul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman – to get all out for just 110. Among these five wickets, Dananjaya took three and spinner Dilruwan Perera took two. A horrible end to the first innings for the Tigers.Fizz takes two wickets in two deliveries Bangladesh paceman Mustafizur bowled with his natural variations and cutters throughout Sri Lanka’s second innings. The left-arm pacer finished day two with bowling figure of 3/35 in 12 overs with two maidens. Mustafizur mixed his pace quite nicely and used the condition and pitch smartly. During his third spell, even wicket-keeper Liton was standing upfront. Mustafizur’s tight line and length paid off in the 56th over when the paceman took two wickets in the second and third delivery. Both the catches were taken by Liton and the first one was taken sharply. Mustafizur could have claimed another, his third, in that over if Sabbir had not dropped an edge from Lakmal at first slip in the fifth ball of the over. It was clever bowling from the Fizz.
