Bangladesh women win warm-up game

Bangladesh skipper Rumana Ahmed won the toss and elected to bat first. The women in red and green posted 235 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated 50 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sulatana top-scored with 51 while opener Sharmin Sultana scored 47. All-rounder Salma Khatun also made a handful contribution of 38. Chasing 236, Ireland started impressively but were unable to capitalise on the good start. They eventually ended their innings on 196/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Opener Meg Kendal was the highest scorer with 54. Spinner Khadija-tul Kubra took four wickets for 36 runs while pacer Jahanara Alam bagged two for 27 runs. Bangladesh have been drawn in Group B along with Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, South Africa and Scotland.
