Anamul becomes joint fastest Bangladeshi to cross 1000 ODI runs

Tigers opening batsman Anamul Haque emerged as the joint fastest Bangladesh batsman to score 1000 ODI runs when he crossed the milestone in just 29 innings. Left-handed batsman Shahriar Nafees also crossed the 1000-run mark in 29 innings. Anamul achieved the feat while batting against Sri Lanka in their tri-nation ODI series match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Friday.

Before Friday's match, Anamul had scored 969 runs in 28 innings. The right-hander needed 31 more runs to equal the record. Anamul eventually scored 35 off 37 balls with three fours and a six before getting out against seamer Thisara Perera. Joint record holder Shahriar had reached the landmark in 2006 against Zimbabwe in Khulna.

Opener Imrul Kayes and all-rounder Nasir Hossian are joint second in the list as both of them crossed 1000 runs in 34 innings. The world record of the fastest batsman to reach 1000 runs jointly belongs to five cricketers. West Indies great Sir Viv Richards was the first to reach the landmark in 1980 in 21 innings.
