Minhajul: Taskin needs to play longer version domestic cricket

Chief Bangladesh selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu informed that paceman Taskin Ahmed needs to play more longer version cricket in order to get back his rhythm. The BCB announced the 16-man squad for the first two matches of the tri-nation ODI series, featuring host Bangladesh and visiting sides Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Taskin was dropped from the squad after the Tigers’ three-ODI series against South Africa. Regarding Taskin’s exclusion, the chief national selector said he requires more longer version cricket to improve his bowling in the international level.

“Taskin needs a break from international cricket. He was not in good form in the last South Africa series. Considering that, we think he needs to play more domestic cricket. Particularly, he needs to play more longer version games. That’s why we have decided to drop him,” Minhajul said to the media during the squad announcement at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Sunday. Taskin took eight wickets in as many innings last year at an economy rate of 6.6 and average of 42.79. Against the Proteas, Taskin took only two wickets in three innings at an average of 99 and economy rate of 8.25.
