Kolkata release Shakib, Hyderabad exclude Mustafizur

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan and paceman Mustafizur Rahman have been released by IPL franchises Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively. The duo will now be a part of the players' auction, scheduled to be held in Bangalore later this month. Shakib spent seven seasons at Kolkata while Mustafizur played two for Hyderabad last year and in 2016.

Along with Shakib and the Fizz, there will be six other Bangladesh cricketers in the auction - opener Tamim Iqbal, batsman Sabbir Rahman, wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das and all-rounders Mahmudullah, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Abul Hasan. Tamim was previously picked up by Pune Warriors but did not get to play any game in two seasons there. The IPL 2018 begins on April 4.
