Gayle: Inshallah, I'll be back next year

Rangpur Riders' Chris Gayle scored 18 sixes in the BPL 2017 grand finale, even though he later said he forgot to count when he was flaying the Dhaka Dynamites bowlers all across the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Tuesday. When queried as to who is the best in terms of hitting sixes, he said, “Na na na, there’s only one Universe Boss. It is only one. Evin Lewis is in the making. Be aware of him.”

Chris Gayle is asked if he considers himself Bradman of T20s or the greatest T20 batsman.

He sounded very positive later on in the presser and he said he looks forward to continuing his playing career. “You guys should be thankful the South Africa T20 was called off because I was going to go there. Inshallah, I will be back next year and entertain you guys,” he said.

“11,000 runs, that’s a fantastic achievement. I actually do it for the people, to be honest with you. I am 38. This is what they want to see. I am entertaining the fans for as long as possible. I will look to win cups for whichever teams I am playing for,” he stated. The Universe Boss is well aware of his national duty and sounded very focused on the upcoming qualifiers for the 2019 50-over World Cup in England and Wales. “The qualifiers will be important. We have a series coming up in New Zealand, where I hope to do well for the West Indies. I am looking forward to it, and I need to adjust as quickly as possible. I hope we can qualify and make it to the World Cup,” he concluded.
