“We are aware of his comment when he resigned last time. We have asked him about this during his presentation. We also asked him why he wants to join Bangladesh now. He gave us the answer. Actually I think it’s better not to talk about the previous board committee,” he added. Nazmul also stated that a few more candidates are in the BCB wish-list and that West Indian Simmons will arrive Saturday. “A few more candidates have contacted us for the vacant post of head coach of Bangladesh. We are going through the final selection procedure. And as part of that, Pybus has come to Dhaka. He did a presentation in BCB [Wednesday]. A few more candidates will come soon. Simmons will arrive Saturday,” Nazmul explained. “We will sit with the other members from the coaching staff, like Richard Halsall and Khaled Mahmud, who served as manager of the national team, Saturday. We have an international series coming soon. We will discuss with them about their planning for the upcoming series,” he said.

The BCB chief also informed that they have talked with senior players regarding the selection of the new coach and that a decision will be taken soon. “We have talked with the players like Mashrafe [bin Mortaza], Shakib [al Hasan], Tamim [Iqbal] and others. We have heard their opinion about the new coach. Some players believe local coach will bring success while the others believe there is no need to appoint a coach at all. Every player has his own opinion. But the BCB will decide who will be the best for Bangladesh cricket,” said the BCB supremo. “It is hard to predict if we will find a coach before the Sri Lanka series. But we are trying to appoint a new coach as soon as possible. We are planning to take a decision about the new head coach in the next board meeting, which will be held Sunday,” he concluded.
