Rajshahi Kings’ wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim suffered injury during their BPL 2017 match against Chittagong Vikings at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium Wednesday.
The incident happened in the first over of Chittagong’s run-chase. Rajshahi pacer Mohammad Sami bowled a wide ball down the leg side and Mushfiq dived to his left to collect the ball. The ball brushed his glove before making its way to the boundary. Mushfiq immediately looked in pain after impact. Rajshahi team doctor rushed to the field and after treatment, Mushfiq decided to leave the field. Youngster Zakir Hasan then kept wickets for Rajshahi for the remainder of Chittagong’s innings.
According to team source, Mushfiq was taken to the Max Hospital in the port city for x-ray in his left hand. The seriousness of the injury can only be determined after receiving the x-ray report.
During Rajshahi’s innings, Mushfiq scored 31 off 22 balls with four fours and a six. Rajshahi eventually won the game by 33 runs.
So far, Mushfiq has scored 170 runs in 10 innings in this year’s BPL with an average of 21.25.
